Welcome to RUNS2WIN Performance Coaching. I’m Joe Thacker, avid runner, RRCA Certified Distance Running coach and former US Navy fitness trainer. Let me start by saying I never had the intention of starting a blog or my own web site. I started running at the age of 12 when I joined the junior high track team. Although I only ran track for a couple of years before moving on to other sports, I never stopped running.

My coaching career began as a volunteer helping students at the school where I taught in the Navy lose weight and get in shape. Anyone who reported to school over the weight limit was sent to the “weight control” program to workout at lunch. I was into road racing and competitive cycling so facilitating the workouts was a good fit. I discovered I was good at helping others loose weight and pass the fitness test which included a 1½ run. Many of the students got the running “bug” and asked me to put together training programs for them so they could complete races; everything from 5k to full marathons. I’ve been helping people start running programs and complete races ever since.

Some people I mentored along the way suggested I start this web site and use the power of the internet to reach more people. I thought if I can help others set and achieve their running goals, then why not. That’s why I developed RUNS2WIN Performance Coaching.

I need to warn you though, this is not for everyone. Not everyone will put in the effort it takes to accomplish their dreams even when they’re within reach. Note: if you’re not willing to put in the time and effort to accomplish your goals, stop reading. If you are willing to learn and have the courage to take action read on.

RUNS2WIN Performance Coaching:

Gives you a specific, understandable plan of attack

Is personal and tailored just for you

Grows with you as you develop as an athlete

Builds your confidence in your running ability

You have dreams, whether it’s starting to run for the first time, finishing you first race, or breaking through to a new level of performance. You’re probably here because you want to be fitter, faster and/or healthier. No matter where you are on your path, RUNS2WIN Performance Coaching can help.

Are you looking to get off the couch and increase your fitness level? I’ll design a program starting from where you are that will help you do just that. I’ll help you along the way, especially the first few weeks when you’re creating permanent lifestyle changes. This is critical to your long term success.
